What happens when the feds raid my house?

If your house was searched by the police and your computer was taken away, you may be in trouble. Many times, the police or federal authorities are looking for child pornography so they take your computer to search. The search can last days, weeks and sometimes months before they let you know what they intend to do. Questions commonly asked:

Can I get my computer back?
Answer: yes- but usually you need to wait and see if formal charges have been filed.

What happens if the cops come to the door?
